Kentucky Twilight
Completed September 21st, 2008 | Acrylic on Canvas | 24" x 18"
As you may or may not know I am originally from Louisville Kentucky and this past spring I decided that it was time for Renee Lyn to experience the "Run for the Roses" AKA "The Derby" in person. My brother Morgan who resides in Louisville with his family has a long track record of getting excellent tickets for the Derby. He's well connected. This year was no exception, where as our seats were on the rail, at the third turn, and not to mention right at the starting gate for the big race! It was an experience of a lifetime one of which I highly recommend. However before we ever made it to Churchill I had to pick Renee up from the Cincinnati Airport (which happens to be in Kentucky) and while we were driving back to Goshen (the little town outside of Louisville where my brother and his family live) the storm that had been drenching the region all day decided to break. The clouds looked like they had been engulfed in flames, igniting the last drops of rain as they fell from the sky. Out from the darkness comes the light, my Kentucky Twilight.
